Fast Track Maths
Course Aim
This is a 100% online course for advanced learners who would like to achieve a Level 1 or Level 2 qualification in Functional Skills Maths.
The aim of the course is to provide a sound grasp of the underpinning skills and basics of mathematical skills to solve problems in everyday life and familiar situations and to serve as a foundation for progression into employment or further technical education. This is a fast track course that allows learners to complete in the shortest time possible. The flexible nature of this course allows learners to tailor their studies to life commitments.
Course length
The course will run up until 31st July 2025 but there is an expectation that learners will complete within 4 to 6 months.
Who is the course for?
This course is suitable for adults living in the Dudley borough who would like to develop and improve their Maths skills, and who do not already have a GCSE grade C (4) or above.
Will I gain a qualification on this course?
Learners who enrol on this course will be provided with the opportunity to achieve a Level 1 or Level 2 qualification with City & Guilds that would serve as a foundation for progression into employment and or further learning.
Do I need any knowledge, skills or qualifications?
This course is for learners who can demonstrate that they are suitable for studies at Level 1 or Level 2 via an initial and diagnostic assessment.
As this is 100% online, learners need to have a basic IT technology, equipment and also possess a basic level of IT skills in order to complete the modules of study. Our Skills Builder learning platform contains all the necessary teaching, learning and assessment material. This course is therefore targeted at motivated, committed and independent learners who are comfortable with the mode of self-study, thereby requiring less tutor support. If you achieve 50% or above at your initial assessment, you will be eligible for the online fast track course.

This course will cover solving mathematical problems, using numbers and the number system, using common measures, shape and space & handling data and information
How will I learn?
Learning will take place online with the guidance and support from your tutor. You will need to access centres to take your exam.

This course serves as a foundation for progression into employment and/or further education.
