• Want to reduce everyday household expenses
• Would benefit from simple, practical budgeting strategies
• Would like to feel more confident managing money
• Prefer a supportive, non judgemental learning environment
• May feel anxious discussing money or numbers
Entry Requirements
No prior knowledge is required. All activities are designed to be accessible for learners of all abilities, including those with low confidence in maths.
What You Will Learn
The session will include:
• Understanding where everyday money goes
• Simple weekly budgeting using a planner
• Using money saving apps and digital tools (e.g. Too Good to Go, supermarket apps)
• Reducing energy and travel costs with small, achievable changes
• Understanding the difference between use by and best before dates to reduce waste
• Identifying places to get free money support
• Building strategies for reducing household spending across food, bills, travel, and daily habits
How You Will Learn
Learning will take place through:
• Tutor led explanations and practical demonstrations
• Real life examples, visuals and simplified materials
• Paired and group activities to support peer learning
• Budgeting templates, cost-comparison examples and scenario tasks
• Opportunities for verbal rather than written responses
• Differentiated support such as pre-filled budgets for lower numeracy learners
• Extension tasks for confident learners (e.g. calculating annual savings)
