NCFE CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning
Who is this course for?
This course is suitable for adults already working in Primary, special or Secondary schools assisting teaching staff on a paid or voluntary basis and who do not have a relevant qualification but wish to update their knowledge and skills. It allows you to develop the knowledge and skills needed when supporting, teaching and learning in schools.
Entry Requirements
Hold Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Functional Skills Level 1 in Maths (or equivalent qualifications). Evidence of qualifications must be provided at interview.
Have undertaken voluntary work within a school setting during the previous 3–6 months. Evidence of this experience must be presented at interview.
Secured a school placement in Year 1 or above, in order to complete the mandatory placement requirement of two days per week. You will need to be supporting children in Maths, English and ICT lessons. Evidence of the placement must also be provided at interview.
Demonstrate an understanding of key terms such as describe, explain and identify.
What You Will Learn
There are 11 units to complete which include children and young people’s development, the requirements of safeguarding, the importance of equality, diversity and inclusion plus supporting children and young people during play and leisure.

A pen, paper, lever arch folder and enthusiasm! The access to a laptop would be beneficial
How You Will Learn
During the course you will attend college or one of our community sites once a week, where you will build a portfolio of evidence which will consist of your assignments, reflective accounts and observations. During the course you will be visited at your placement regularly by a qualified, experienced assessor where she will observe your practical competency.
All units are internally assessed with no exam at the end. You must complete all assignments and your practical hours of 300 hours before completion
